Re: multiple accounts
so i just created this guy in response to the future makeover of erepublic. gonna get gold to it to upgrade the training facility once its on sale...and maybe look into increasing it's health. thats about it other than having him become a personal employee of mine. any other suggestions of what i should do with it?

Re: multiple accounts
The only way I would ever do what you are suggesting is if you have access to more than one IP address. ONLY use one account on one IP, ONLY use the other on the other.
Otherwise you will get your new account banned.

Re: multiple accounts
Might even lose your old one if you catch them in a particularly bad mood when they go to ban the new one. Better to have a friend run a dummy account than you multi

Re: multiple accounts
It is possible, however, to kill off your old account and start fresh.
It takes a little assistance to do it well (so that you don't lose all your current assets), but it can make the game interesting again if you've found yourself in D4 with little strength.

Re: multiple accounts
Right now i plan to have that guy just work for me, No voting, Not gonna transfer assets to him other than thru salary. slowly get this guy improved. Is that viable? or still too risky? right now i am damn happy with the account i have and i do not want to risk it if i do not have too

Re: multiple accounts
I think a same IP working for you will shortly = banned. The question is : who will be banned: your multi or yourself .

Re: multiple accounts
They won't reverse your ban, either, so if you value your account, don't risk it. Sometimes they don't notice for a while, sometimes one single incident of same IP for two accounts associated with eachother is all it takes. Every repetition of such increases risk of a ban significantly.

Re: multiple accounts
The use of the same IP by more than one citizen is NOT considered to be a criterion of determining multiple accounts. Citizens are strongly advised not to make any interactions between accounts on the same IP.
Citizens in the same household are strongly cautioned to never share passwords with each other or "account sit".
From eRepublik Knowledge Base.
...now so long as the two accounts NEVER aid each other in ANY way you're good. Donate 1 tank and it is grounds for ban and it will be both and irreversible. Even if you are on 2 separate IP addresses, donate back and forth; if one of you sign onto the wrong IP address -Ban Hammer. Gained from personal experience.

Re: multiple accounts
They say that, but they will routinely ban accounts that share an IP and nothing else based on the level of boredom among the admins. As much as they like to say there are 'rules', those only really apply to the lower level moderators. High level mods and employees of the company can get away with bans for anything they deem to be even remotely suspicious, because the wigs just don't give a fuck.
If you'd like to have a second account without too much hassle, drop $2-300 on the game over the course of a month or two and then buy the monthly pack on your main account. The fear of losing you as a regular customer outweighs their tiny little sliver of regard for having a game that would even remotely be called 'fair'. The caveat to this is if you use the second account to build up your first via free work, donations, or whatever. That is you finding ways to spend less, meaning it's bad.

Yep, Pfeiffer is correct (sadly).
Also, on this note, my younger brother recently made a eRep account, and while I friended him, I've been careful to make sure there was no punishable interaction between the accounts. That said, he's on my IP; I'm not making any effort to hide him, and considering that I've never spent a dime on eRep, I wouldn't be surprised if I wake up to a permaban at some point in the future.
Just letting you guys know. lol

Having your own multis working for your main account would be a suicide in my mind.

Re: multiple accounts
If such blatant multis were allowable, everyone would have 25+ multis and no MU would go without 300+ pumping out WRM's and Q7. As such, while some innocents may on occasion get caught in the fire, it's a necessary policy.

Allowed, no.
Easy to do with a small bit of work, yes.

Yes, all you need is a good VPN and like our friend here you too can be a 'bot farmer'. My wife and I use to play together on two separate IP addresses, then one day she signed onto my IP by mistake and the next day we were banned.
The only way 'bot farming' can be stopped is to tie a citizens account to the IP used during creation. As an example I create a persona through IP xx.xx.xx.xx, the next day I sign on through IP yy.yy.yy.yy; the account is automatically banned. Of course doing that would impact Admins bottom line, because then whales like our friend here would stop spending $200 to $300 a month on a 'free to play' game; personally I have a real life outside this game life and I would rather spend $200 to $300 a month on my wife -at least it gets me laid....

Re: multiple accounts
Or, you know, some of us play on mobile as well as our computers. Also the fact that, well, most people should be using dynamic IP's, so... eRep would wind up played ONLY by people using specific IP's through a VPN.Franklin Stone wrote:Pfeiffer wrote:Allowed, no.

Another fun fact, since you seem to hate goldbuyers. You know this MU you're part of? It's not free. Who pays the bills?
What about those tanks of ours that carry us to victory in tournaments? Hell, I've spent a fairly significant amount myself. Thank those who buy their way for your ability to play without spending. That's how it works in anything "free", because nothing really is free.
Also, Pfeiffer, I know--I'm not naive, nor am I innocent.

Re: multiple accounts
Kortanul, Franklin Stones gold buying comment was a shot a Pfluffer directly, not anyone else that buys gold.
A multi is bad idea. Just wait for friends to die, get their account info and run them as revived citizens like Pfieffer does. Less suspect that way, just have a proxy server or a VPN or use one from home and one from work or school or someone elses house, or your phone on cellular.

Re: multiple accounts
I'm aware, H3, but it's a pretty poor choice for such--quite a lot of us buy a fair amount of gold and enjoy unofficial perks [though support still sucks].

Re: multiple accounts
Kortanul,
I apologize if I upset you. The choice to buy gold is of course up to each citizen and the 'unofficial perks' are IMO acceptable, it is when those perks includes allowing the gold purchaser to cheat. Your concern over Mobile Phone usage is easy to fix, eRepublik simply offers a software download for phone play, the citizen downloads it to their phone and it is connected to their citizen by the phone's serial or SIM number.
If the NSC can do it, why not eRepublik Labs...?
