IRC activity !

Hey guys , i am just wondering why is the activity on IRC so low ? There are like 20 people on IRC all the time , we are 300 people in the UM so please , be active on irc Very Happy

I'm there a lot and I'm trying to come up with ideas to improve IRC traffic. Why don't you guys tell me what would attract you there.

I myself have never been much for IRC, or forums as far as that goes. I've been pretty good lately about coming here, to stay up to date, and I LOVE the forum (not so much p/h going on - no offense to FED members), and I'll see what I can do about IRC.

I try to keep up via the forums, but I mostly just idle in IRC for the orders--barely ever actually talk on it.

I only have to identify when my internet cuts out or I shut down my laptop, so... about once every 4 days or so, and as far as I've seen there's nothing to prevent idling for hours or days on end.
I use Nettalk--a dedicated IRC client--rather than the web client, so there's nothing to time out either.

I am so confused with mibbit and tried 3 times without luck :/ I havent really bothered trying it as well.

I think making a supply bot there will help. I think there will be all the members to get the supplies and the IRC would be much more active. Just an idea but I am not so sure it will be easy to do it.

I use the stand alone program IceCHAT and once idled for 3 days without timing out, used mibbit once (after trying to figure out how to use it for a couple of days) and timed out in 15 minutes. I have always felt that IRC is good when you are needing to conduct a meeting, issuing orders, requesting supplies or to control a mass attack, but other that it is pretty useless....

Ice is good, I used XChat for years and am on trillian now (primarily because it is really good for multiple servers while running multiple services). Mibbit should only be used when you can't download something, or don't use IRC regularly.

I really like IRC, but every time that I turn off and turn on my laptop when the IRC is loading and auto-logging I get a ban in the chat, so after get and lost permission like 3-4x I gave up.

My suggestion, a open chat but only voice could talk.
