Eh, I wasn't involved in the decision, and I'm fine with it either way, but I find that more often than not, post rep/karma systems have a way of getting skewed and stop being reflective of the quality of posts.

Totally agree with this, as Kemal found out when he decided he wanted to be the 'Karma God'....
