Trekker4CP Q&A Empty Trekker4CP Q&A

Post by Trekker Sun Mar 29, 2015 2:17 pm

Hello my EZC family.

TL;DR version at the end

As many of you probably already know, I am running for Country President. Although I am not coming to EZC for support, as we are apolitical, I would like my MU-Family to know about and be involved in (if they wish) this.

Anyone looking to have a National Deputy job, let me know. I am recruiting people for work. We are especially looking for people who love to write to assist in the many papers the country has.

But more importantly than that above, I want to give EZC the chance to ask any questions/concerns that they may have about a Trekker Presidency. Feel free to ask me anything as a comment below.

For those curious, here is some reading material.

My Articles:

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/trekker4cp-cabinet-list-2511155/1/20

Articles about me:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-eus-news-day-2684-an-interview-with-trekker-tlumac-2510692/1/20

TL;DR? = Trekker is running for PotUS and this is where EZC can ask him anything they want.

Good luck, Trekker! Any brilliant ideas about how to reach out to some of the more hostile elements of the community?

As a general rule, I like to kill people with kindness. Just because there are hostile elements in various parts of the community does not mean that whole section of the community shares their views.

I am trying to reach out to the surrounding fringes of the community, and with some effort we can build partnerships with those fringes until the only fringe left are those simply unwilling/unable to let go of the hostility.

There will be no non-partisan end mode where all parties agree. This is a pretty dream, but it is a pipe dream. A better goal is to start getting people engaged with each other on the MU level (through joint strikes and war) and in player education. Both of these are places where party-politics should be non-existent and we can build bonds of camaraderie that will bring us closer together.

Those who are hostile will inevitably be the creators of their own downfall.

I'm bored with eRep lately, Trekker. I think we spoke about this the last time I was on IRC. I'm here to stay because I like so many of the people here, and I feel like a part of the community on a many different levels, but the fact remains, eRep simply hasn't been a good return on investment for entertainment lately (in the past 2-3 weeks).

Now, of course, this might be as much a personal problem as anything else, but I have a solid feeling that I'm only one of many who feel similarly.

With that said, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the executive's role in making eRep fun/worthwhile/entertaining for the citizenry. It's always been my feeling that people are the most valuable resource in this game, and most folks seem to agree on that, but it seems that lately our policy has been more about maintaining the sandbox than actually doing things to make the sandbox fun to play in.

tl;dr: What responsibility does the executive have to make this stuff worth playing for? Got any good ideas on how we can keep more people engaged and entertained on a macro level?

Hey RG.

I got distracted by another post and totally forget to check this one.

Yeah I am not sure what to say for the executive responsibility to make the game fun and engaging.

There is only so much that can be done (War, Activities, media).

But at the end of the day I think the executives responsibility lies more in the security of the nation. If I can provide fun while not destroying the country, I surely want to do that. As far as specific plans for that, I am currently unsure.

That's fair, but I think you might have missed the gist of what I was trying to say.

To me, keeping people engaged and entertained, and giving them a reason to click is something vital to the security of the nation. Have we all just resigned ourselves to the idea that the game is going down the tubes and just keeping on keeping on to maintain the status quo is good enough? When people leave because this game is no longer entertaining for them, is that okay because, hey, communities all over eRepublik are losing people; as long as everyone else is dying as fast or faster than we are, it's no big deal?

When eRep is no more and we've all moved on, who's really going to give a damn if we played in the smartest, most mechanical way and held full bonuses in our cores with peace and stability for however many consecutive months? Are you good with looking back and thinking that when you got handed the keys, you followed the established pattern and held the course as well as the last guy? To me, that's not why people are here. Is that why you are here? Is that what keeps people engaged? Peace and stability, staying the course, maintaining the status quo... Yeah, I find all that boring: boring and easy.

I am working on ways to be less boring and easy. lol.

I have an ambitious domestic plan to help fill out the cabinet with deputies so that we can work at peak function.

War is not out of the question, but I need to be careful who we fight with. Game mechanics could really be thrown for a loop and we would automatically loose half of our MPP stack if we pick wrong.
